Woven Wings Baby wraps are woven in the UK in a renowned Mill specialising solely in bespoke high-end quality textiles. Established since 1720 working in collaboration with luxury Fashion houses and couture designers they produce fabrics that are of the highest quality and demand. Fibres are carefully and ethically sourced, and all yarns are dyed in-house allowing for one-of-kind colours. Some of my wraps will feature our non-chemical luxurious finish which makes them blankety soft straight out of the bag and requires no breaking in.
All of my wraps have been put together with significant attention to detail and a lot of love and care. I hope you enjoy many special moments with your little ones wrapped in Woven Wings.
As a modern woman with children in the early 1970s, their mother Erika Hoffmann was looking for a practical and uncomplicated way of keeping her newborn twins and two older children, Anna and Tom, close to her while going about her day-to-day tasks. She was inspired by the illustrated book “Children and their Mothers,” which contained pictures of mothers from around the world, many of whom used cloths to carry their children on their bodies. This reminded her of a Mexican carrying cloth that a well travelled friend had brought back for her.
Without any instructions, she began to try out different ways of carrying her children using the cloth. Soon, the young family wouldn’t be able to imagine everyday life without the children being carried in slings. Ultimately, Erika Hoffmann turned her personal passion into a profession and vocation by setting up DIDYMOS in 1972. As a result, she re-introduced babywearing, a practice she initially adopted for both emotional and practical reasons, to the German-speaking world.
Having carried all three of our children, I absolutely understand the benefits that carrying your child bring to the whole family unit.

Emily started using baby carriers with her first child 13 years ago. She struggled to find a carrying product that worked well for her, and so – being a geeky, creative sort of person – researched alternatives. By the time her second child was born she had bought or hand-sewn several more slings, wraps and carriers, and discovered how easy and comfortable babywearing could be. As she used carriers and found how free and happy babywearing made her feel, she also became more fascinated in the mechanics of carriers. She’d wonder what might make each one that bit more easy, or comfy, and she’d try making a new sling to test it out. Designing, making and converting slings even became a side business as others asked her to sew carriers for them.
And her enthusiasm for babywearing didn’t stop there. Soon she was sharing babywearing information and helping other parents to use all these different wraps and carriers too. This passion to support other parents carrying quickly became a full-time job; 7 years ago she qualified as a Carrying Consultant and set up a busy Sling Library. Emily has taught literally thousands of families to carry their babies and toddlers in all different ways, in all kinds of sling and carrier. She has rented thousands of carriers, and heard families’ real-life experiences when they returned them. She has trained other Babywearing Consultants, consulted for retailers and brands internationally, and is a regular speaker on babywearing. Emily still works directly with parents, offering carrying advice and using hundreds of different wraps and carriers every week. This means that she continues to hear all of the questions and concerns, and how parents are really experiencing the carrying products that they buy or try out.
And all of this feeds into Izmi. We have a unique, deeply personal connection to the experience of carrying, making carriers, and to the experiences of the huge range of different parents, babies and professionals who use our products. Izmi is born of a genuine passion to find ways to make life as a parent feel lighter and simpler, and to share that with as many people as possible.
I soon found myself searching the Internet for a wrap that looked as good as wearing baby K felt. Picky as I am, it turned out to be quite a challenge and one day Hansotto said “Why don’t we just make our own?”. Despite no previous experience with the fashion industry and no long-lasting desire to run a business, Levate was born. We strive to make timeless wraps designed by young Danish designers in Nordic colours that match a modern living.
The fairy tale of Levate has just begun do you want to join?
We have created WEAR ME, the first Italian brand that designs and produces jackets and coats, adjustable and made with innovative technical materials, which allow mothers and pregnant women to bring their child with band or pouch, combining practicality and style.

THE HONEYCOMB LOUNGE
Firespiral is the creation of Tamsin and Jen and was born in the North of England in 2011.
We are passionate about woven baby wraps and had a shared dream to one day have our own designs woven.
We have worked incredibly hard to realise this dream, learning the technicalities of weaving in order that our designs ‘work’ on a woven medium, and personally sourcing the yarns that we weave with. The local weaving mill that we work with is used to creating high-quality bespoke fabrics from natural fibres on a scale that is right for our business and are as excited to be working with us as we are with them.
The Honeycomb Loom
The Honeycomb Loom is a collaboration between Firespiral Slings and Baie Slings. We are both UK based manufacturers of woven wraps, and members of the Woven House Guild. Over the years, meeting at sling shows, and chatting online we have developed a friendship, and from that friendship (one night sat around a campfire) The Honeycomb Loom was born! The Honeycomb Loom provides us with a space to work together, utilising our combined expertise and buying power to design and create an affordable cloth that has been designed for carrying.
We are a Mid-Wales based family of artists, musicians and designers, with expert abilities in sewing.
We were introduced to the world of Babywearing by a family member and we have carried each of our daughters in a sling since they were newborns. We have loved the closeness it affords, it has allowed us to constantly interact with them; talk to them, and keeping them at our level to view the world around us, seeing the things we see, and meeting the people we do.
The Cloak comes with different style hood options, the Capes are the hoodless version and a Poncho goes over your head without a front opening as the others have. If you have a wrap or some fabric you would like made into a cape, cloak or poncho I am happy to provide this service.

Angel Wings. I am a woman a mother of two beautiful kids.
I have always wanted to have children and so when I become a mother, a sling was a natural part of my outfit for my babies. First one, then another… As the stack grew, so did my demands for thermal insulation in the winter months and gained comfort.
After several attempts to attach inserts to jackets, carrying babies under as well as over a regular jacket, and exploring anything accessible as well as inaccessible, I purchased the first piece of clothing designed for such purpose. I must honestly say that I was really grateful for having it and back then I was also happy to get over the fact that in the outrageously expensive jacket I looked like a fisherman… I was warm and it was the main thing.
Six months after my second-born daughter was born, my hobby became my job.
I was given the opportunity to build on my experience with carrying my children, conducting courses for carrying children in slings, and several hours of consultation with my kindred friends.
I started to design, implement and distribute clothing designed specifically to fit parents who carry their children in slings and ergonomic carriers.
It is intended for those of you who want to have your baby with you whether it’s cold or hot, those of you who want to wear clothes in which you feel comfortable – comfortable and elegant.
Our products are made in the Czech Republic by Czech hands. We try to adapt and grow from the experience and based on your references.
I believe that you will be happy to let us protect you against bad weather by our angel wings…

Lilith. Each bag is unique as the person who wears it.
This is why each bag requires special attention when creating it.
I thought, design, created and tested all my models. The list of choices expands to satisfy everyone and for each occasion. And to guarantee it a long life, I made the choice to work with quality suppliers. Babywearing wraps scraps, renowned Italien leather and Colimaçon et Cie for inside fabric.
And finally the little touch that makes each bag truly a work of art, it is inspiration, passion and pleasure to make a piece that is loved before it is even created.

Marisso Slings (based in Glasgow) is made of motherly love woven into baby slings, designed by a mum for mums.
Once, I had a dream…
A house filled with family warmth, with the aroma of freshly baked homemade cake and brewed coffee wafting through the air, intertwining accompanied by with the joyful chatter of children and the sound of stamping little feet. A dream of love, happiness, peaceful life and a job which gives me a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment. My dream came true, I have everything I could have wished for, so now it’s time to follow my passion. I am a wife and a mother of two wonderful kids, and because of them and their need of physical closeness I learnt about the true magic of baby slings.
In fact, with time the slings have become my real passion and so when the idea of me designing dream baby wraps first flashed into my mind, I knew I was in the right place.
I looked at my children and thanked them for the difficult times we have been through, because otherwise I would never have experienced the closeness and attachment created through babywearing.
So that’s what brought me here today. And thus, I am here where I am and I am who I am. And this is how the new brand “Marisso Slings’’ was born – made of motherly love woven into baby slings, designed by a mum for mums.
Sycha Slings was launched in 2006 by Sally Sycha, also known as Sling Sally, with the aim of enabling as many people as possible to experience the joy of carrying their children. Prices start from £64 including UK postage, and all wraps and ring slings donate 5% of the price to a designated charity. The Main Line wraps are specifically designed to aid with learning, as they have easily distinguishable rails, obvious flip sides and wrap around middle markers on both the top and bottom rails.

It can also a pretty full on place. For many, in the lifespan of parenthood it’s such a fleeting part. And it’s hard to let go of.
Of course many of the friends you made along the way will stay with you. Will always be there for you. But you can’t get them converted in to a bag to carry your purse and phone. You can’t frame them and hang them on the wall. But you can, thankfully, do that with those pieces of fabric that have meant so much to you over the babywearing years.
And that’s what I do. I create wrap scrap art prints. Screen printed outlines in to which I put your most treasured scraps. These pieces of fabric come to mean so much to us. Our memories, what this did for us has become woven in to the fabric itself. To able to work with these pieces, to hear the stories that go along with them is an honour.
Scrapdoodle. My name is Gillian. I started my sling journey the day my son was born in 2008. (Well, earlier really, since I started researching during my pregnancy). It was a couple more months before I found woven wraps, but wrapping changed my life in ways I could never have expected.
My daughter was born in 2012, and wrapping was a joy, and the woven wrap world had opened up, with many more brands and wraps out there than four years earlier. I had been running a small crafty business for a long time, and in 2013 I began experimenting with wrap scraps, making my very first woven wrap pendants, under my original brand name Gillybird. I’ve been making them for four years now, and many other makers have now joined me, but I believe I am the original wrap scrap pendant maker, and after years of making I have an impressive scrap collection.
Since it is not possible to ever own all the wraps I challenge you to #wearallthependants – this is your chance to enjoy a beautiful stash of unicorns – and if, like me your little ones are moving past the wrap stage then continue to celebrate the wrapping days.
